CMAP and its options for PROFS, SAS and FOCUS provide performance management facilities to maximize the efficiency of available system resources.
CMAP drives up efficiency and drives down costs by improving performance analysis, capacity planning, system usage and accounting in the VM/CMS environment.
System-wide monitoring
CMAP provides flexible facilities to define which commands and users to monitor, when to monitor them and what data to collect.
Tailored reporting
Reports are generated using data files collected during the monitoring process; in addition to the standard reports provided by CMAP, users can extract data to generate their own reports.
Data conversion
The CMAP data conversion facility converts a CMAP, PROFS or FOCUS raw data file into a fixed format file; this feature is particularly useful when data is required for use by an application not capable of processing the complex raw data file format.
Data extraction
Subsets of a CMAP raw data file can be created, enabling users to run several reports on a subset of a raw data file or to maintain only a section of that file.
Long-term data retention
The raw data collected by CMAP can be condensed and retained long term to allow historical analysis.
