Crawley, UK, October 28, 2015 – New software from Macro 4, a division of UNICOM® Global, makes it easier to track and safeguard service levels for IBM mainframe applications by allowing system administrators to monitor key performance metrics such as application response times and user activity, using any PC or mobile device with a web browser.
The new web-based tracking functionality is delivered by Macro 4’s SUPERMON for Tubes software, a new integrated performance dashboard for its Tubes mainframe session management solution which provides secure, web-enabled access to IBM 3270 applications.
“Using SUPERMON for Tubes, administrators and helpdesk operators have quick, convenient access to important performance data for multiple mainframe applications from a single web dashboard,” explained Keith Banham, Mainframe R&D Manager at Macro 4. “You can see how many users are currently logged on to applications and how active they have been, as well as the response times they are experiencing, for example. It’s possible to set warning thresholds for individual metrics, and data and charts are color coded so that operators can quickly spot and address potential problems.”
Additional features allow IT staff to analyze historical performance trends and to compare multiple time slices as well as perform data extrapolations to help predict and take action to avoid future performance problems.
Tubes from Macro 4 is a leading session management solution that provides secure, flexible, user-friendly and responsive access to applications running on IBM mainframe systems from virtually anywhere using a web browser on a mobile device or PC, in addition to Eclipse and native 3270 interfaces. Browser access removes the inconvenience and cost of using 3270 emulation software to access mainframe applications.
