HERNDON, VA- April 15, 2015 - UNICOM Government, Inc., (UGI) a leading provider of IT solutions supporting the missions of government agencies, today announced that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has selected UGI as a prime awardee of the Chief Information Officer – Commodities and Solutions (CIO-CS) Government-wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC). UNICOM Government is a division of the multinational IT solution provider UNICOM Global.
CIO-CS is a ten (10) year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to provide a mechanism for the federal government to procure IT commodities and solutions as they relate to general IT initiatives along with health and life sciences IT capabilities. These IT commodities and associated commodity enabling services may include IT procurements aligned to information management, operational, administrative, and health and biomedical research requirements. The contract also contains general IT commodities partly because medical systems are increasingly integrated within a broader IT architecture, requiring a “systems approach” to their implementation and a sound infrastructure for their operation. This requirement leverages the strengths of the entire UNICOM organization which has provided mission-critical, integrated systems for government and commercial enterprises since 1981.
“UNICOM is proud of the recognition accorded our organization by the CIO-CS award from NIH,” said Corry Hong, founder and CEO of UNICOM Global. “The UNICOM Government organization is well placed to deliver the complex, integrated systems that NIH requires including on-premise and managed services through Public Cloud. I am also very proud of the UGI team who worked diligently to ensure the confidence necessary to win this award.”
Various commodities delivered through CIO-CS will leverage UNICOM’s core competencies and past performance including Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC), physical security and document management .
UNICOM Government, formerly known as GTSI (NASDAQ: GTSI), was acquired by UNICOM Global in 2012, and following the acquisition the new organization has been strengthened with the financial foundation, depth of relationships and increased commitment to technical excellence of UNICOM Global. UNICOM was founded in 1981 by Mr. Corry Hong, who continues today as president and CEO to lead the expanding operation with his technical, financial and business acumen. For more than three decades, UNICOM has established itself as the leader in delivering mission-critical solutions around the world in the federal, state and local government organizations in addition to its expansive commercial base of customers.
