Crawley, UK, October 31, 2014 – Macro 4, a division of UNICOM Global, will be promoting its modernization solutions for mainframe development when the company exhibits at the Guide Share Europe (GSE) UK annual conference on November 4th and 5th, 2014. Macro 4’s Head of Mainframe R&D, Keith Banham, will also describe how the company met its own modernization challenges in a workshop entitled ‘Sunsetting 3270 in a mainframe development environment – how we made the journey’.
Under the banner of ‘next generation mainframe development’ Macro 4 will exhibit a range of solutions designed to Web-enable and mobile-enable traditional 3270 mainframe applications, and will also present its Eclipse workbench and Web-based developer interfaces aimed at attracting a younger generation of IT staff to mainframe coding, testing and support.
“Many of the largest global businesses run their core strategic applications on a mainframe and over 80% of the world’s corporate data is held on zEnterprise. It’s an incredibly stable, secure and highly performing platform – it just needs a facelift. By providing new graphical interfaces in addition to traditional ‘green screens’ we are bringing the mainframe to a much wider audience – and making it accessible on the go,” said Keith Banham.
In a workshop session at 12:00 on 5th November Keith Banham will explain how modernizing the mainframe development environment is helping Macro 4 increase productivity, drive down costs and reduce MIPS usage while addressing the business risks around a maturing mainframe team.
